abstract | New azo dyestuffs are 5-cyclohexoyl-thiophene (2-azo-6) 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline or (2-azo-7) 3,4-dihydro-2H-1,4-benzoxazine cpds. of formula (I). In (I), R1 = H or (substd.) 1-10C alkyl; R2 = -CN, -CON(R8)R9, -COR10, -COOR11, -SO2R12 or -CONHNR13; R3 = H, halogen, 1-4C alkyl, 2-4C alkyl, 2-6C alkanoylamino, 1-10C alkoxy or phenoxy; R4 = (substd.) 1-10C alkyl; R5 = 1-4C alkyl; R6 = H or 1-4C alkyl; R7 = H or 1-4C alkyl; R8, R9 and R13 independently = H, or (substd.) 1-10C alkyl, 5-7C cycloalkyl, phenyl or naphthyl; R10, R11 and R12 = (substd.) 1-10C alkyl, 5-7C cycloalkyl, phenyl, or naphthyl; X = O or -CH(R14)-; R14 = H or 1-4C alkyl; Y = a gp. imparting solubility in water; n and m independently = 1 or 2. (I) are prepd. by diazotising the corresp. 2-aminothiophene (II) (with 0-1 Y substit.), coupling with the tetrahydro-quinoline or -benzoxazine cpd.
