(A)3-Allyloxycarbonyl- 4-(6-methoxy-2- naphthyl)- 3-buten-2-one of formula (IIa) is new: (B) Prodn. of 4-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)-2-butanone (I) is effected by catalytic transfer hydrogenation of a cpd. of formula (II) in the presence of cyclohexene (III): X and Y are H, or X+Y is a bond; R1 is COOH or an ester gp convertible to COOH by hydrogenation, (allyl, benzyl or p-methoxybenzyl). |
