abstract | 2,3,4,5-Tetrahydro-11-phenyl 1H-(1,4)-diazepino(1,7-a) indoles (I) and their acid-addn. salts are new. (I) are pref. of formula (Ia); where R1 and R2=H, F, Cl, Br, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy or CF3; R3=H, 1-4C alkyl, 3-6C cycloalkyl, (3-6C) cycloalkyl (1-3C) alkyl, 3-5C alkenyl or 3-5C alkynyl; and R4-R6=H or 1-4C alkyl. 3-Cyclopropylmethl- 2,3,4,5- tetrahydro-11 -phenyl-1H-(1,4)-diazepino (1,7-a) indole is specifically claimed. A prepn. is also claimed. USE - (I) are esp. useful as antidepressants at daily doses of 25-500 mg. They are also useful as antiaggressive and anxiolytic agents at 20-300 mg/day and as neuroleptics (e.g. antischizophrenic agents) at 25-600 mg/day. |
