titleOfInvention | Phase sepn. prodn. of microcapsules for water soluble pharmaceuticals - using fluoro-substd. aliphatic hydrocarbon as non-solvent in the hardening stage |
abstract | In the phase-sepn. process for microencapsulation of water-soluble pharmaceuticals, the new feature is that the capsules are hardened at 0-25 deg.C, and that during this stage at least one fluoro- or fluorohalo-aliphatic hydrocarbon (A) is used as non-solvent. An excess of (A), relative to the total vol. of solvent and non-solvent originating from the phase-sepn. step, is used. (A) is used in at least 5:1 excess, and is particularly CFCl3; CFCl2.CF2Cl or CF2Cl.CF2Cl. The microcapsules are made of poly-L-lactide; poly-D,L-lactide or a copolymer of D,L-lactide and glycolide. USE/ADVANTAGE - The microcapsules are prepd. without formation of aggregates and in a more stable form, particularly with respect to hydrolysis. Their non-solvent content is very low (only about 1/10 that when using heptane as non-solvent) and low processing temps. are not necessary. |
