abstract | Process for the preparation of 2,2'-dichlorohydrazobenzene by hydrogenation of o-chloronitrobenzene in alkaline medium, in the presence of a quinone or hydroquinone and of a platinum or palladium catalyst. A C2-C5-alcohol is subsequently added to the reaction mixture in amounts of 2 to 20% by weight, relative to o-chloronitrobenzene. The process thus requires only very small amounts of catalyst in a ratio of 0.0001 to 0.00001 parts by weight of platinum or palladium, relative to 1 part by weight of o-chloronitrobenzene employed. |
