titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of N-arylphthalamic acids
abstract N-Arylphthalamic acids of the formula I, in which Q and Ar have the meaning given in Patent Claim 1, are prepared by reacting phthalic anhydride or 4-cyclohexene-1,2-dicarboxylic anhydride and an appropriate aromatic amine at room temperature. The reaction is carried out in water and/or a polar organic solvent which is miscible with water. The compounds prepared are plant growth-regulating hormones and can be used, for example, as biological agents which promote fruit setting. <IMAGE>
