A stable preparation of prostaglandins E is prepared by dissolving a prostaglandin E in ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, propylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, 1,3-butanediol, 2,3-butanediol, 2,4-pentanediol, hexylene glycol, 2,5-hexanediol, 2,4-heptanediol, ethylene glycol monoacetate, propylene glycol monoacetate, polyethylene glycol 200, 300, 400, 600, 1000, 2000, 4000 or 6000 or polypropylene glycol 200, 300, 400, 750, 1200, 2000, or 4000 or an aqueous solution of one of these compounds, which are solid at normal temperature, and then freeze-drying the resulting solution. These preparations contain suitable, physiologically acceptable solvents for administration to humans and are substantially more stable than solutions in physiological saline solution or ethanol. They can be used as medicaments having bronchodilatory action. |
