titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of quinoxaline di-N-oxide derivatives
abstract Quinoxaline di-N-oxide derivatives of the formula <IMAGE> in which R and A have the meanings stated in Claim 1, are prepared. The quinoxalines are obtained by reacting benzofuroxan with compounds of the formula <IMAGE> in an inert organic solvent in the presence of a base at temperatures between 0 DEG and 70 DEG C. In another process, the quinoxalines are obtained by reacting compounds of the formula <IMAGE> with a diketene of the formula <IMAGE> in an inert organic solvent at temperatures between -15 and 30 DEG C to give compounds of the formula <IMAGE> followed immediately by reaction of these compounds with benzofuroxan in the presence of a base at temperatures between 0 DEG and 70 DEG C. The prepared compounds have valuable microbicidal and growth-promoting properties for domestic and agricultural livestock. For use in practice, they can be converted together with suitable auxiliaries into compositions in liquid or solid form suitable for use.
