For the preparation of novel hydroxypropylamines of the formula (I) <IMAGE> where R<1>, R<2>, R<5> and R<9> are as in Patent Claim 1 and Y is -O- or -CH2-, n is an integer from 0 to 5, m is an integer from 0 to 2 and Ar is the phenyl group, and of therapeutically acceptable acid addition salts of these compounds, a compound of the formula (VI> (R<1>)(R<2>)Ar-OM (VI> is used as a starting compound. In this compound, M represents hydrogen or an alkali metal. The compound of the formula (VI) is reacted with a compound of the formula (VII) <IMAGE> If desired, the resulting isomer mixtures are separated into the pure isomers. Resulting free bases can be converted into their salts. The compounds exhibit a blocking action on beta -receptors and can be employed for the treatment of cardiovascular disorders. |
