Process for the enzymatic hydrolysis of cephalosporins |
abstract |
The cephalosporins derived from the chemical enlargement of the ring of penicillin G and/or from the enzymatic synthesis of semi-synthetic cephalosporins are hydrolysed by contacting them with bacterial cells of the Escherichia coli or with purified penicillin acylase extracted from Escherichia coli cells. Several steps of known methods for the preparation of cephalosporins are thus effected by bacterial cells or cell extracts. Substantial improvements, savings in raw materials and good yields are obtained. |
