titleOfInvention Liquid crystal mirror to be used especially as rear view mirror in a vehicle
abstract The liquid crystal mirror comprises a plate which is driven by a front photocell, and which is transparent and electrically insulating and the rear surface of which is equipped with a transparent covering (18) of electrically conductive material exhibiting a plurality of areolae which are not covered and which are disposed in accordance with a square mesh grid (30). This gives, when the liquid crystal is subjected to a voltage to achieve a low reflectance in the mirror, an attenuation of the reflected light only in correspondence with the covered areolae, on account of which the reflected image exhibits a satisfactory sharpness. <IMAGE>
