titleOfInvention Device for controlling insects
abstract The device comprises a formed solid material having a porous surface capable of releasing 1,2-dibromo-2,2-dichloroethyldimethyl phosphate in a quantity sufficient to give an effective concentration of the insecticide for a prolonged period. It comprises a matrix of synthetic resin, 15 to 35% by weight of insecticide, finely divided silica particles in a quantity sufficient to retard the sweating of the insecticide and at least one C14-C20 saturated carboxylic acid or one of its salts or esters. It consists of a mixture of the compounds mentioned above and of a surface-porosity regulating agent non-reactive in the mixture and having a boiling point equal to or less than the hardening temperature of the mixture. The device is particularly useful for controlling houseflies, fruit flies and mosquitoes.
