abstract The process for assaying human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG) lubeinising hormone (LH) or a substance of the HCG type, in an aqueous sample, consists in bringing the said sample into contact with a fraction of plasma membranes derived from tissue from the corpus luteum of a gravid female in the first three months of the period of gravidity, which is capable of selectively binding biologically active human chorionic gonadotrophin and to determine by radioassay the quantity present thereof. The abovementioned process makes it possible in particular to detect a pregnancy in women.
