abstract 3-Benzyloxy-11 alpha -methoxy-17 alpha -ethynyl-17 beta -hydroxyestra-1,3,5(10)-trie ne is prepared by the action of a benzyl halide on the corresponding 3-hydroxy compound. The compound obtained has a remarkable antigonadotrophic activity as well as an exogenous anti-oestrogen and anti-androgen activity; it lacks oestrogen activity. It can be used especially as anti-androgen drug, for example for the treatment of prostatic hypertrophy.
