titleOfInvention | Process for the preparation of 1,3,4-thiadiazole-5-thiols |
abstract | 1,3,4-Thiadiazole-5-thiols of the general formula I <IMAGE> in which R denotes hydrogen or an alkyl radical having 1-4 carbon atoms, an aralkyl radical having 7-8 carbon atoms or an aryl radical having 6-7 carbon atoms, are prepared. These compounds are obtained in particularly high yield and purity by reacting an acid addition salt of an imidoalkyl ester of the general formula II in aqueous solution with a salt of the dithiocarbazinic acid of the formula III <IMAGE> The compounds are useful intermediates for the preparation of biologically active cephalosporins. |
