abstract | Polyene compounds of the formula <IMAGE> in which R1 and R2 are lower alkyl, R3, R4 and R5 are hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkenoxy, nitro, amino, mono- or di-lower-alkylamino, lower alkanoylamido or an N-heterocyclic radical, and R3 and R5 are furthermore halogen, where at least one of the radicals R3 to R5 is different from hydrogen, and when R3 or R5 is halogen R4 is not alkoxy; and R6 is alkenoxycarbonyl or alkynoxycarbonyl, are obtained by esterification of corresponding carboxylic acids. The compounds I are remedies for benign and malignant neoplasms. |
