titleOfInvention | Anthrapyrimidine dyes for bulk colouring of thermoplastics |
abstract | Prepn. of anthrapyrimidine dyes of formula (I): (in which R is H or aryl and X is an aromatic group) is by condensing an amino-pyrimidine with Hal-X-Hal, or a halo-pyrimidine with H2N-X-NH2, in molar ratio 2:1.Reaction is pref. in presence of an acid-acceptor and opt. a Cu catalyst. (I) are useful for the mass colouring of thermoplastics, e.g. polystyrene, ABS or esp. linear polyesters, in yellow to red shades.High light-fastness and thermo-stability is obtd. with good resistance to sublimation, bleeding and migration. They give brilliant shades and are simple to prepare, dissolve in polyester melts and resist temps. <=300 degrees c, giving clearer shades than insoluble pigments. |
