titleOfInvention | Carbonless copy system with chromogenic azo-methine cpd. |
abstract | Pressure-sensitive copying or recording material has a colour-forming system contg. azo-methin cpd(s). (I), as colour former, of the formula R2N-PHI-CH=N-A- (N=CH-PHI-NR2)n-1(H)2-n (where PHI is a p-phenylene gp. opt. with a halogen or 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy substit. The R gps. are each H, 1-4C alkyl, 2-5C cyanoalkyl or a benzyl or phenyl gp. opt. substd. by halogen or 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy, or each pair of R gps. is 4 or 5C alkylene.A is naphthyleneor phenylene substd. by (halo) phenoxy or 1-9C acylamino and opt. also by halogen 1-5C alkyl or 1-4C alkoxy, n = 1 or 2).(I) develop to intensive yellow to orange shades with excellent fastness to light and are very valuable in conjunction with other familiar colour formers for the prodn. of (marine) blue, grey or black shades. |
