abstract Prepn. of new dithocarbonates of formula R1NH-CS.S-alk-COOH (I) and their salts (where R1 is phenoxyphenyl or phenylaminophenyl opt. substd. by lower alkyl, halo, CF3, NO2 and/or CN (esp. by CH3, Cl, CF3, CN and/or NO2). Alk is lower alkylidene or alkylene, esp. (CH2)n where n=1-3), comprises solvolysis of a deriv. having a functionally modified COOH, then opt. converting to a salt. The starting material is esp. a lower alkyl ester, amide or nitrile.(I) are well-tolerated anti parasitic agents, esp. for control of nematodes, cestodes and most esp. trematodes, most partic. Schistosoma species but also causative agents of filariosis and malaria.Specific (I) is 2-carboxyethyl N- 4-(4-nitrophenoxy or 4-nitroanilino)phenyl dithiocamates.
