The use of repellants prevents damage to objects whilst conventional use of rodenticides reduced rodent populations, but does not prevent damage.Pref. repellants are (a) amides of satd. (5-11C) fatty acids the amine component of which is vanillylamine, guaiacylamine or piperidine; (b) alkaline earth salts of unsatd fatty acids; (c) citric acid; (d) cinnamic acid; and (e) derivs. The repellants may be incorporated into the objects during extrusion of thermoplastic materials; by direct application to surfaces and subsequent polymer coating; or by application with a film-forming material. |
