titleOfInvention | Tuberculin active proteins and peptides prepn - from tubercle bacillus |
abstract | The title proteins, which contain as the active gp. the peptide sequence-Asp-Gly-Ser-Glu-Met- are prepd. by treating a tubercle bacillus with an organic solvent, digesting the resulting material with a nuclease, dialysing the resulting hydrosoluble proteins in a buffer at pH 5.5-7.8, and fractionating the hydrolysate by chromatography and/or gel filtration. Peptides contg. the same active sequence may be obtd. by hydrolysing the proteins, and fractionating the hydrolysate by chromatography and/or gel filtration. The proteins and peptides are used in the diagnosis of tuberculosis. Suitable bacilli are strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, e.g., Calmette and Guerin's bacillus, or M.tuberculosis strain Aoyama B. |
