titleOfInvention | Vinyl-lithium prepn. by reacting ethylene with lithium suspension - in dimethoxymethane or tetrahydrofuran, using charge transfer catalyst |
abstract | Vinyllithium is prepd., by reacting ethylene with a suspension of lithium in dimethoxymethane or tetrahydrofuran, in presence of a charge transfer catalyst, at 15 to +25 degrees C. The charge transfer catalyst comprises one or more aromatic cpd(s). Pref. catalyst is biphenyl opt. mixed with napthalene in the ratio 10-7:1. The lithium is pref. preheated with methanol to increase its reactivity. The process is reproducible, economical, industrially feasible and gives high yields of vinyllithium. |
