abstract | Adhesion of hydrophilic layers to a dimensionally stable polyester film, esp. photographic materials, is improved after drawing longitudinally by (a) applying a single adhesive layer consisting of (wt.%) (I) 30-80 chlorinated polymer (II) 5-30 gelatine, (III) 5-40 plasticiser for (II), and (IV) 0-30 metal complex-forming antistatic agent, (b) drawing the coated film in a transverse direction, and (c) thermofixing at 180-220 degrees C. Specif. (I) is a copolymer of vinylidene chloride/vinyl chloride/n-butyl acrylate/itaconic acid (63/30/5/2 wt.%), or of vinylidene chloride/methylmethacrylate/Itaconic acid (88/10/2 wt.%) (III) is 1,1,1-tri(hydroxymethyl)propane, O-sulphobenzoic acid itaconic acid, 2-sulphoethyl methacrylate, glutaric acid or adipic acid. (IV) is sodium sulphosalicyalate. |
