titleOfInvention 5-(1-alkyllysergyl)amino pyridines prodn - by alkylating 1-unsubstd. cpds., useful as salidiuretics and serotonin antagonists
abstract Process for preparing new lysergic acid derivs. of formula (I) and their acid addn. salts, comprises reacting N-unsubstd. cpds. (II) with alkyl halides in presence of a strong base and in an inert solvent or solvent mixt. then opt. converting to a salt. (R=1-4C alkyl; R1 and R2=H or 1-4C alkyl). (I) are salidiuretics useful in treatment of all types of oedema and do not increase K excretion. They are generally given at 0.01-0.3 mg/kg. At 0.5-1 mg/kg they also have serotonin-antagonising activity so can be used for treating migraine.
