abstract New cpds. having formula:- (in which R is H or acetyl; and the broken lines denote one double bond in the 2- or 3-position, or two double bonds in the 2- and 4-positions) are produced by addition of HSR to the corresp. cyclohexene or cyclohexadiene crotonoyl cpd. These cpds. have a fruity or flowery aroma which is so strong that the cpds. can be used in very low concn. e.g. 1-10 ppm in foodstuffs.
