abstract | The probe consists of an ionization chamber containing a radioactive source and a collector which is attached to a linear amplifier (11) supplied down the cable form to the probe. The monitoring circuit consists of another linear amplifier with a "hold" capacitance input configuration attached to the probe cable form by means of a switch. When the connection is broken, the hold circuit maintains its value and the output from a galvanometer (18) attached to the monitor amplifier output can be read at the operator's leisure. The whole arrangement is powered by two cadmium sulphide batteries. The improved "hold" circuit is also briefly described together with a variation on the circuit which allows the maximum monitored value to be held and displayed. |
