titleOfInvention Thymus extracts with antileucopenic activities - by extraction and hydrolysis of thymus glands, then deproteinising
abstract A thymus extract is prepd. by repeatedly treating finely cut thymus glands from young mammals, with a hydrolysing soln. at various temps., centrifuging the liq. obtd. and standing the supernatant at various temps., pH-values and times, filtering after every temp. change. The resultant liq. is partly frozen, the ice removed and the extract obtd. is diluted and filtered. (I) have antileucopenic and antibody-forming activity. They may be used in the treatment of primary and sec. leucopenia after treatment with bone marrow poisons or myelo-toxic influences such as irradiation, X-ray treatment, cobalt irradiation, Betatron, carcinostatic therapy etc. The activity of (I) is considerably higher than that of known antileucopenic agents. No local-or general side-effects are shown.
