titleOfInvention | METHOD OF MANUFACTURING GRAIN LARMS PANCREATIN. |
abstract | The microbe count in pancreatin not intended for use as a medicament is reduced by treating with isopropanol-water mixtures contg. 70-90 (pref. 88-90) vol. % isopropanol. The treatment is pref. carried out at between room temperature and 40 degrees C for 1-36 (esp. 15-24) hrs. using an aqueous isopropanol: pancreatin ratio of 0.2-3 (esp. 0.8-2)mol per g. The product is suitable for use as a detergent additive for preparing gelatin, protein hydrolysates etc., or as an emulsifier. Simple treatment giving a product with low microbe count without reducing enzyme activity. The pancreatin is obtained as a powder with good flow properties and good liquid-absorbing properties; it is practically free from non-spore-forming microbes (esp. enterococci and pathogenic staphylococci). |
