titleOfInvention Weather and light resistant polyester films textiles
abstract Producing polyester material which is resistant to the action of weather and light comprises (a) treating the polyester material in a bath contng. a light absorbing material and a carrier, the latter leaving the properties of the polyester material unaltered after treatment; and (b) heating the polyester material and the bath, so that the polyester material becomes bonded with the light absorbing material in the presence of the carrier to form the resistant polyester material. The carrier is pef. a polyalcohol, particularly ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, butylene glycol, glycerol, a glycol ether, or polyglycol. The light absorbing material is pref. chosen from the mono-o-hydroxybenzophenones, o-hydroxyphenol-benzotriazoles, benzotriazoles, or phenyl-alpha-methylstyryl-ketones. The treatment is pref. carried out above 121 deg.C.
