Process for detection or assay of immunoglobulin-reagins antagonists to certain allergens, wherein the sample, e.g. a body fluid such as blood plasma or serum, is mixed with particles of an insol. polymer (e.g.Sephadex) to which the test allergen(s) has been firmly (covalently) fixed. The polymer, with the reagin now attached to the allergen, is brought into contact with specific antibodies to the reagin which have been marked (e.g. with a radiolabel such as 125I, or contg. a fluorescent gp.) and the polymer (or supernatant fluid) assayed for the marker. Alternatively, reagin may be marked instead of the antibodies and the polymer finally treated with this. For in vitro diagnosis of hypersensitivity. |
