titleOfInvention METHOD FOR HYGIENIC CHEMICAL CLEANING.
abstract Hygienic dry cleaning of textiles is effected by treatment with a liquor contg. aldehyde(s) (I) and halo-o-hydroxydiphenyl ether(s) (II), opt. acylated at the OH gp., of formula (in which p is 1 to 5, pref. 2-4; Hal is (opt. different) halogen atoms(s); the benzene rings A and B can be substd. by opt. halogenated lower alkyl or alkoxy gps., CN, allyl, amino or acetyl gps.). The antimicrobial action of the 2 agents covers a very wide spectrum, (I) having a curative and disinfecting effect, whilst (II) is curative and also inhibits bacterial growth. They are effective in very low concns. and thus have a very low toxicity.
