| abstract | New o-hydroxyphenylbenztriazoles of formula: where one of the X1 and X2 gps. is a C3-14 secondary alkyl gp or 1-phenylethyl, and the other of these gps. is a C1-14 alkyl gp. benzyl, 1-phenylethyl cyclohexyl cyclooctyl or C1 and X2 may also be H, and R1 is H, Cl CH3 or OCH3, are used to protect materials against light. The benztriazoles are used to stabilise organic materials, esp. high polymers they can also be used to produce UV filters. The new stabilisers have better compatibility with the substrates. Higher concentrations can be used. The stabilisers are less volatile when the substrate is heated. |
