Cpds. of formula (I): (where A-B is CH2CH2, CH:CH, or CCl:CH; Y and Z are halogen and X is a halogen atom with atomic wt. equal to or less than that of Y, or in the case where AB is CCl:CH, a hydroxyl) are useful in topical treatment of dermatitis, eczema, pruritus, lupus ertyhematosus and psoriasis, and in oral treatment of polyarthritis, bronchial asthma, and hay-fever. A typical cpd. is 6alpha-fluoro-9, 11beta, 21-trichloro-16alpha-methyl-1,4-pregnadiene-3,20-dione.
