abstract 1-Cinnamoly-3-indolylacetic derivs New cpds. or formula I:- (where R1=H hal, (1-4C) alkyl, or (1-4C) O-alkyl, R2 and R4=H or (1-2C) alkyl, R3=H pHCH2 or (1-4C) alkyl) are anti inflammatories and analgesics I are prepd. by (a) condensing a substd. hydrazine (II) with a keto acid R2COCH2CHR4CO2R3 (III) or (b) an indolylacetic acid (IV) with a beta-phenyl propioalkyl halide Ph C triple bond C-COX to give a 1-beta-phenylpropioloyl 3-indolylacetic acid derivs. which is reduced to I with H2 and a metal catalyst.
