abstract (A) Cmpds. of the general formula (I):- - A = a condensed benzene or pyridine ring - R' = H, (1-4C) alkyl, CF3, (1-4C) alkylS-, or one or two halogen atoms - R2 and R3 = H or (1-4C) alkyl - R4 = OH, (1-4C) alkylO-, (1-4C) alkyl, NO2, H or halogen - R5 = H, OH, (1-4C) alkylO-, (1-4C) alkyl, CF3, NO2, NH2, NH alkyl or Nalkyl2 - n = 0, 1, 2 or 3. - (B) Acetals and ketals of (I). - (C) Acid addn. salts of (I) and (II). - Anti-inflammatories. - beta, gamma-isopropylidenedioxypropyl-alpha-(1-p-chlorobenzoyl-5-met hox- y-2-methyl-3-indolyl)-acetate, as an oil. - This was heated 1/2 hr. at 100 deg. in 75% AcOH, poured into ice water, extd. (Et2O), the extract washed (H2O, Na2CO3-Aq., and H2O), evapd., and recryst. from EtOH-aq., giving the glyceryl acetate.
