titleOfInvention | All-weather adhesive tape for pressure applications |
abstract | A plasticised PVC insulating tape is claimed to combine full utility at subzero temperatures without loss of quality in handling or insulating properties at higher temperatures. The film backing contains a large amount of a polyester plasticiser with or without other plasticiser, so as to have, at -20 deg.C., a modulus at 50% elongation less than 5300 p.s.i. and brittleness not more than twice at 0 deg.C. On this is deposited a pressure sensitive adhesive which has very high viscosity and cohesive energy density less than 75 cals/cc. |
