abstract | 3-oxo 7 alpha-methyl 13 beta-R 17 beta-hydroxy gona-4, 11-dienes of formula: (in which R is C1-4 alkyl) together with the acids and esters, are prepared from 3-oxo-7alpha methyl 11beta hydroxy 13beta-R 17beta-Xo gona-4-enes, (R being C1-4 alkyl and X being a C1-18 carboxylic acid) first by dehydration, then reduction, saponification and esterification. 3-oxo 7alpha-methyl 11beta-hydroxy 13beta-ethyl 17beta-acetoxy gona-4-ene has valuable anabolic and androgenic properties. |
