abstract | Agent for regulating plant growth contains as active component >=1 cpd. of the formula XCH2CH2Si(Y)(OR1) (OR2) (I) (where Y is Cl or OR3; X is Cl or Br; and R1-R3 are alkyl (opt. subst. by halogen, alk(en)oxy, phenyl, phenoxy, CN, cycloalk(en)yl, alkylthio, alkoxycrabonyl, >=1 heterocyclic residue and/or di- and tri-alkylammonio), alkenyl phenyl- or halo-alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalk(en)yl, phenyl (opt. subst. by CN, NO2, alkyl, halogen, haloalkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkanoyl and/or alkoxycrbonyl), benzyl (opt. subst. by alkyl, alkoxy and/or halogen) or -COR4 in which R4 is alkyl (opt. subst. by cycloalkyl, phenyl or phenoxy), oxoalkyl, alkenyl (opt. subst. by cycloalkyl or phenyl) (phenyl residues opt. subst. by alkyl, alkoxy and/or halogen), alkynyl, haloalk(en)yl, phenyl-ooalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkoxycarbonylalkyl, cycloalk(en)yl, phenyl (opt. subst. by halogen, lower alkyl or alkoxy) or a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic residue; or R1 and R2 are linked so as to form an (un)satd. heterocyclic residue.
