Polysulphhydryl copolymers containing units where A is from B is from (I) R, R', R" are H or lower alkyl; R"' is lower alkyl; R1 and R2 are H or lower alkyl; R3 is H, lower alkyl, -OCOCH3, -COOCH3, -CN or alkoxy; M is a thiol-containing group or a hydrocarbon group possibly containing an amino group but at least 1% or M, and especially between 20 and 80% of M contains a thiol group. M may be the same or different for each unit; (I) and (II) are not identical. In particular M is formed from (A) HS-R-NH-R' in which R is 2-4C alkylene possibly substituted by 1-4C alkyl, carboxyl or carbalkoxy; R' is H, CH3 or C2H5; in which R1 is H, CH3, C2H5 or CH2CH2OH; R2 is H or COOH; q is 1-5; q' is O or 1;: or (C) R3NH-(CH2)m-CH2CH2 R4 in which R3 is H or lower alkyl; R4 is lower alkyl or in which r, r' are lower alkyl or taken with the N to form a heterocyclic ring such as morpholine or piperdine; m is 0 - 4. - Uses are for treating keratin fibres (especially hair) to improve their quality and to facilitate dyeing. |
