New molluscicidal cpds. are diethyl ether derivs. RR'R"C-O-CR1R2R3 (where R and R1 are phenyl or heterocyclic with aromatic -type unsaturation and which may be substituted by halogen, alkyl or alkoxy; R" is H or as R and R'; R1 is alkenyl, heterocyclic, cycloaliphatic or 1-7C, opt. branched alkyl, which may be substd. by halogen, hydroxy, hydrocarbylox, hydrocarbyloxycarbonyl or carboxyl; R2 is H or phenyl or with R1 forms an opt. unsaturated carbo- or heterocycle; R3 is H or a double bond in the ring formed by R1 and R2; but when R - R" are all opt. halogenated or alkylated phenyl R1R2R3 is not alkyl). Typical cpds. are 2-furfuryl-trityl oxide, diphenylmethyl-alpha-n-propylbenzyl oxide. |
