titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of organic salts having a therapeutic effect, p-chlorophenoxy-isobutyric acid
abstract Title salts of formula (I) (where A is an amino-alcohol, an ester or an amino-alcohol, or an N-substd. piperazine) are prepd. by reacting p-chlorophenoxy-isobutyric acid (II), or one of its salts with a base A, or one of its salts. Pref. A are tris-hydroxymethyl-aminomethane, tris(nicotinoyloxymethyl)methyl-amine and 1-benzhydryl-4-cinnamoylpiperazine. The salts (I) lower blood lipid levels (the action being due to the cationic moiety and in some cases also the anionic moiety) but, unlike the parent acid (II), preserve the integrity of the gastric nucosa. In addition, the anionic moiety can have favourable effects on circulation useful in certain categories of arteriosclerosis.
