titleOfInvention | Process for the preparation of nucleoside phosphates |
abstract | 1-beta-D-arabinofuranosylcytosine (and 5-subst. cytosine) 2'- and 3'-phosphates of general formulae (I) and (III): X = H, CH3, CF3, F, Cl, Br or I. The new compounds have considerable cytotoxic activity in vitro especially against KB-tumor cells and viruses, particularly the different kinds of Herpes, Coe and vaccination-virus. Very slow de-amination in the human liver gives the compounds an extended activity in systemic applications. The compounds may also be used for cleaning glassware and instruments used for cultures in virus and tumor research and the washing of transplants for animals to prevent the growth of tumour cells, etc. The anti-viral activity may be used in the preparation of cultures of micro-organisms especially Streptomyces cultures, as well as in the treatment of Herpes keratitis in the eyes of domestic animals infected with the virus. The compounds may also be used as intermediates in the preparation of oligonucleotide polymers. |
