abstract | Naphthoxypropanolamines - (I) where R1 = 3-4C cycloalkyl or naphthyl opt. substd. by 1 or more halogen, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl, and esters and acid addn. salts. - beta-Adrenergic blockers, useful in treatment of coronary diseases, e.g. angina pectoris and cardiac arrhythmia, hypertension and phaeochromocytoma. - Mixture of II (A = ) (2.0 pts.), III (R1 = cyclopropyl) (0.57 pts) and ethanol (25 pts) was refluxed for 3 hrs., solvent removed under reduced pressure, residue dissolved in ethyl acetate (5 pts) and oxalic acid dihydrate (1.26 pts) in ethyl acetate (25 ml) added. Mixture was filtered, residue washed with ethylacetate and cryst. from n-propanol to give I (R1 = cyclopropyl) H oxalate monohydrate. |
