A drying unit for granules e.g., cocoa beans fed to a conveyer belt, pref. in Teflon, transparent to hyperfrequencies. The belt traverses a coiled waveguide between lateral lips fitted to the guide pipes. The waveguide is supplied with hyperfrequency from a generator, e.g., 2450 MH2, 1250 W, 14.7 cm wavelength, to heat the granule environment and remove water to reduce the material humidity e.g., from 6 to 2%. The surplus energy from the waveguide is absorbed in a trap pref. water or iron and the generated heat used on site. |
