abstract Anilinobenzyl-tetrazoles - with anti-inflammatory activity. Title cpds. of formula (I): (where R1 and R3 are H, Me, Et, F, Cl or Br, R2 is H, Me, Et, F, Cl, Br or CF3, and R4 is Me, Et, n-Pr or n-Bu) are prepd. by reacting a cpd. of formula (II) in a suitable solvent with 2 molar proportions of NaH to give the disodium salt, and reacting this with R4-X (where X is Cl, Br or I), converting the resulting salt into free (I), and optionally converting (I) into a salt with a base. (I) have antiphlogistic, analgesic and antipyretic activity, and are also useful as UV absorbers, e.g. in cosmetic creams, since they absorb reddening but pass browning UV radiation.
