Hypotensives and diuretics (q.v. NE.68, 10196) LD50 for (I) (R1 = R2 = Me, R5 = Ph, NR3R4 = morpholino), (i.v. mouse) = 125-500 mg./kg. Biguanide. HCl (3.48 g.) and ethyl phenylmorpholino acetate (5. 1 g.) were refluxed 6 hr. with Na(0.92 g.) in MeOH (15 ml.), evapd. in vac., the residue mixed with H2O, filtered, and recryst. from EtOH, giving (I) (R1 = R2 = H, R5 = Ph, NR3R4 = morpholino), m.p. 236 deg.
