Cpds:- is prepd. by reacting 3-hydroxyquinophthalone with Br2 in H2SO4 of 80-100% strength at 0-40 degrees C (pref. 20-40 degrees C). The cpd. is a known dye. No. purification is necessary after isolation by pouring into ice water, filtering, washing and drying. |
