titleOfInvention | Process for the preparation of new unsaturated 2-oxa-steroids derivatives |
abstract | (A) Compds. of the general formula (I) R = (1-6C) alkyl X = H, (1-5C) opt. unsat. alkyl opt. contng. another O atom, or (1-18C) carboxyacyl. (B) Intermediates in the process for (I) (see "Preparation"). Anabolics with some androgenic props. (II) (R=Me, X=PhCO; 3 g.), PhH (45 ml.), Zn (3 g.), and I2 (crystal), were refluxed while BrCH2CO2Et (3 ml.) was added over 10 min. Refluxed 10 min., cooled, washed with HCl in ice water, dried, evapd., and chromat. on SiO2, eluting with 1:1 PhH-EtOAc to give a mixture of (III) and (IV) (2.78 g.). This was dissolved in PhH (25 ml.), p-MeC6.H4SO3H (0.25 g.) added, refluxed 10 min., washed with NaHCO3 soln., and H2O, and evapd., giving (I), m.p. 186-7 deg. |
