H, 1-6 C lower alkyl, alkenyl, allyl, benzyl, alkylaryl, hydroxyalkyl, NH2, guanidino, furfuryl, or alkylheterocyclic. R1 and R2 together with the adjacent N can be dialkylamino, where is a heterocycle optionally substd., or an optionally substd. heterocycle. (B) Acid addn. salts of (I) and (II). (C) Pharm. compns. contg. (I), (II), and (III). (D) Compds. (II) in which is replaced by X (where X = halogen) (IV). (E) Intermediates (V) and (VI) (see "Preparation") As components of pharm. compns. with sedative and hypnotic properties useful as tranquilisers, anti-convulsants, anti-Parkinson drugs, and antispasmodics. For administration by the oral, intramuscular, and intravenous routes.
