titleOfInvention | Process for the preparation of halogenated primary aromatic amines |
abstract | A halogenated aromatic nitro-compound is halogenated at 20 degrees - 180 degrees C at the pressure of 1-100 atms. opt. in an inert solvent using as catalyst Raney nickel and 0.1 to 20% by wt. (based on RaNi) of a thiocyanate M(SCN)x. M is an alkali (ne earth) metal, H, NH4, a linear or branched 1-18 C alkyl opt. unsaturated, up to 10C aromatic opt. substd. with lower alkyl, or up to 12 C araliphatic and X is 1 or 2. The catalyst improves yields and reduces secondary reactions. |
